DONOVANOSIS - DONOVANOSE

This 19 years old woman presented with an perianal granuloma inguinale lesion of about 8 months duration.

This patient presented with suprapubic donovanosis, but involving the penis and scrotum as well.

Granuloma inguinale also known as “ Donovanosis ” is a chronic destructive granulomatous genital ulcerative infection, a sexually transmitted disease which aetiological agent is the intracellular Gram-negative bacterium Calymmatobacterium granulomatis now reclassified as Klebsiella granulomatis.

Characterized by one or more painless or minimally painful granulomatous lesions in the anogenital area but rarely disseminated to the body, donovanosis affects predominantly adults.

This tropical disease occurs primarily in endemic foci of all continents except Europe and rarely in the United States.

Le granulome inguinal également connu comme "donovanose" est une infection chronique destructive granulomateuse et ulcéreuse des organes génitaux, une maladie sexuellement transmissible dont l'agent étiologique est la bactérie intracellulaire Gram-negatif Calymmatobacterium granulomatis désormais reclassée Klebsiella granulomatis.

Caractérisé par une ou plusieurs lésions granulomateuse indolores ou très peu douloureuses dans la zone ano-génitale, mais rarement diffusées sur le corps, la donovanose affecte principalement les adultes.

Cette maladie tropicale se produit principalement dans des foyers endémiques de tous les continents sauf en Europe et rarement aux États-Unis.
